![]() Ninja Baseball Bat Man would find new life through MAME, becoming quite popular due to its quirky art design and beat ‘em up gameplay. Compare that with the fact that gamers today can't buy legit copies of games released in the 90's. Thankfully in 2016, MAME received an official Free Software license, meaning that players can legally download MAME and play arcade games, provided they don't try to sell the games to the public. Think about this: Just about every movie that was released in the 30's and 40's can now be bought on DVD. No wonder this industry is so ass backwards and developers are going outta biz left and right. You'd think developers would do something to keep everything available in some legitimate form or another - while PROFITING. I realize that MAME is designed to keep these games available, but it sucks that my only LEGIT option to play them is to either buy a cabinet or a supergun and then wire it all up to a jamma PCB that'll probably cost me northwards of $100 alone. Besides MAME, which isn't obviously legit and not available to the masses re: modern gamers that play consoles exclusively, these games are doomed to die and be lost forever. Warms my heart I was thinking about this topic all week at the office, and finally had time to post it last night.īut, this gets me thinking. I'm happy to see so many people have contributed to this thread. ![]()
